Mid-Year Freak Out | Book Tag

Hello guys! Since everyone has been doing this (and I just saw a video by my favorite booktuber Regan from Peruse Project) I decided I should do it as well. It’s crazy how it’s more than half of the year has already gone by (and I feel like I haven’t done anything I planned) but in terms of reading I am pretty satisfied. If you didn’t know, I only actually started reading 2 months ago after a long break and I managed to read 23 books so far. I don’t know about you but I think that’s amazing 🙂 Anyways, hope you enjoy this post.

BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2020

Beaus and Arrows by Rashida T. Williams

Although I am still looking for a book to really surprise me, I decided I’d choose this one because it’s such a cute and amazing book but so underrated (and that’s why I mention it in almost every post of mine lol). Check out the review on my blog to read about my thoughts on this one.

BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2020

The Governess Game by Tessa Dare

This is actually the only sequel I’ve read this year so I didn’t have anything else to chose from. It was very steamy and fun but I did like the first book better.

NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO

The Evil Queen by Gena Showalter

This comes out on June 30th and I’m so excited! It’s a retelling of Snowhite from the perspective of the evil queen who falls in love with the prince. It sound so interesting so I’m hoping I’ll like it.

MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR

I really don’t have any anticipated books and I tried to go through the lists but I couldn’t find anything that sparks my attention. That’s why you should recommend me some anticipated books in the comments 🙂

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

Don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t a bad book and I still rated it 4 stars on GR. However, it was such and underwhelming conclusion to the whole series which I loved. I expected so much more from this and I was pretty disappointed.

BIGGEST SURPRISE

The Chalice and the Crown by Kassandra Flamouri

2020 must be the year of underrated gems for me. I didn’t expect much from this book but I ended up loving it. It’s so beautiful and unique. Read my review here.

FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR

Tessa Dare

I want to thank this women for introducing me to the world of regency romances, I fell in love with those! And I loved all the books by her I’ve read so far. P.S. I can’t wait for the fourth book of Girl Meets Duke series!!

NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH

Patch Cipriano (Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick)

Patch is by no means a new crush, but I just re-discovered him after rereading this. I don’t know why he attracts me so much but he makes me fall for him both at 13 and 20. Nothing hotter than a fallen angel, right?

NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER

Lou (Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin)

This book has so many mixed reviews and many people hated Lou but I don’t really care because I loved her. She’s so funny and fearless, a true heroine.

BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

I rarely cry and I haven’t read a sad or emotional book so I can’t speak of anything that has made me cry. Although when I was reading Boys of Brayshaw High I almost cried from how bad it is lol.

BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY

Romeantically Challenged by Marina Adair

This was such a cute and funny book and it made me laugh so many times. It’s such a light and interesting romance and perfect for summer. Read my review here.

FAVOURITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION

Everything, Everything

I’m including this because it is the only book to movie adaptation I’ve seen this year. It was nothing special but I must say I loved the main actress, she is sooo beautiful and talented.

FAVOURITE POST YOU HAVE DONE THIS YEAR

Re-Reading My Favorite Book After Seven Years: Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Definitely this one. I re-read Hush, Hush after 7 years and I fell in love with it all over again. It was such a nostalgic rollercoaster but I loved it. What is your favorite post of mine?

MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT THIS YEAR

Woven in Moonlight by Izabel Ibanez

The cover of this is what made me want to read this book. It’s so beautiful and almost looks like tapestries the main character makes. It’s a fantasy novel about Bolivian legends and politics and if that isn’t a unique and interesting topic, I don’t know what is.

WHAT BOOK DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR

A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Bridget Kemmerer

I loved the first book and I couldn’t wait for the sequel to come out. But it’s been a while since it’s out and I still haven’t picked it up. I really should, though, and I’m hoping I will as soon as possible.

I hope you liked this tag and as always, I tag you all to do it as well!

Happy reading!

  1. That’s a shame you found Queen of Nothing disappointing, I’m still to read it but I’ve seen so many mixed things 😦 Woven in Moonlight’s cover is soooo beautiful!
