Book Review: Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

Title: Once Upon a Broken Heart

Author: Stephanie Garber

Description:

How far would you go for happily ever after?

For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings…until she learns that the love of her life will marry another.

Desperate to stop the wedding and to heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing.

But after Evangeline’s first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous game—and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she’d pledged. He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after or the most exquisite tragedy….

RATING

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This book seems to be everywhere! At first I was like: “This girl is trying to botch a wedding because she’s in love with the groom? Nope we don’t like homewreckers over here.” But I really like making the deal with the devil trope so that’s why I picked it up. And I’m glad I did.

This book has one of the most dreamy and interesting vibe to it. It’s like a mix between fairy tale and a modern chick-flick. Never read something like it before!

But one of the things that separates it from a classic fairy tale is how the characters are not only black and white, their personalities are all over the place.

My favorite character was of course Jacks. He’s a true bad guy who may not be so bad and you fall to like him. Evangeline was alright, not my favorite character but faar better than a lot of female heroines.

This book had so many plot twists and it ended up with the biggest one. When it comes to the fantasy part, you name it, this had all the parts of it.

In conclusion, a fun and interesting ride. Not my favorite book ever but the fairy tale vibes made it 100 times better. I’ll definitely be continuing on with the series!
