So May was a very succesful month in terms of reading. Because of quarantine, I had so much time on my hands and I decided to use it mostly for books. And I’m pretty glad because I read a total of 10 books!! That is more than I’ve read in total the whole last year. There are a lot of good books I’ve read and I’m pleased with my selection.
May is also the month I restarted my blog and I couldn’t be happier with how much fun I’m having and all of your wonderful feedback and comments. So thank you all and I’m hoping I’ll be even more active in June. Also, I hope I won’t let myself down in terms of reading this month. Although June is busy for me, everything is manageable if I plan it rightly!! Hopefully I’ll read loads of great books this month as well.
Nonetheless, here are all the books I’ve read in May…
5 star reads
- Foul is Fair by Hannah Capin

Wow this was amazing but super gory. It is a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth talking about a teenage girl’s revenge on a group of boys that raped her. It’s definitely not for everyone but I loved it. If you’re interested in my opinions on this book read my Goodreads review.
2. Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

A lot of you have most likely already read or at least heard about this book, but if you didn’t, it’s YA fantasy about a witch getting married to a with killer (of course he doesn’t know she’s a witch). I flew through this and I rated it so high because it’s not only very interesting, it’s also super funny. Check out my Goodreads review.
3. The Chalice and the Crown by Kassandra Flamouri

This book blew my mind. It’s such and interesting and unique story about a girl who becomes a slave in a literal world from her nightmares, but the problem is, she can’t wake up. Check out the review on my blog.
4. Beaus and Arrows by Rashida T. Williams

I can’t believe how underrated this book is (and that’s why I’ll never stop talking about it!). It’s about a real life cupid whose job it is to match couples, until he accidentally breaks his favorite client’s heart. I loved this soo much and it’s one of the cutest and funniest romance books I’ve ever read. Check out the review on my blog.
5. The Little Teashop in Tokyo by Julie Caplin

A super cute romance based in Japan. If you like traveling, photography, tea and Japan you should definitely read this. Check out the review on my blog.
4 star reads
- Get a Life Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

Since everyone was talking about this book, I just had to pick it up. I liked it but had a bit higher expectations so this is definitely on the lower end of 4 stars. Check out my review on my blog.
2. The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard by Ravina Hilliard

This is a new adult book (with a bit of action) about a bodyguard pretending to be billionaire’s escort in order to save his life. Check out the review on my blog.
3 stars (and under)
1. Billionaire Boss: And Undercover Affair by Kyra Radcliff

Although this started out as a good and interesting read, I wasn’t really into it because it became very unrealistic and in the end I rated it 3 stars. You can check out the review on my blog.
2. Ghosting: A Love Story by Tash Skilton

This had such an interesting premise, promising me a funny story about ghostwriters for a dating company who fall in love with each other (not knowing the other is actually a ghostwriter), but what I was left with was merely an average contemporary. It was even a bit boring in my opinion. I ended up giving it 3 stars. Check out the review on my blog.
3. Vicious by L.J. Shen

I was always into bully-to-lover books when I was younger, but I think I’m just getting to old for it (jk I’m only 20 haha). Don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t a bad book (it was far more interesting than half of the books I usually rate higher) but I had a major problem with main character’s personality. He is incredibly sadistic (even after 10 years), and I don’t see any remorse about things he had done in the past. That’s why I rated this 2.35 stars. Check out the review on my Goodreads.
I am super happy with last month’s reading and the amount of books I read. Hopefully this month will be just as good (if not even better!).
Happy reading!
